Culture & Love · Chassis · ProM 1: The Manager's Chassis

A great manager is a unifier

There is no us versus them when a pro manager is on the job. The good manager makes the line between leadership and the team disappear.

Adversarial departments waste the energy that should go to the customer.

Tactics by seat

Every manager (Chassis)

  • Stop speaking of 'they' when you mean leadership or another department. Use 'we' and mean it.
  • When your team complains about another gear, walk over with them and solve the hand-off.

General Manager

  • Kill public blame between Sales and Production in the first meeting you hear it. Reset the internal-customer rule.

Owner

  • Never vent about a department in front of another. Your shadow becomes their war.
